Loved it, great hostel in Bogotá

This hostel is great, we will definitely come back if we are ever in Bogotá again! The staff are really nice and helpful, and very good at laundry!! The cleaning lady should get a raise she works so hard, and the dog is gorgeous! Thanks

What was the highlight of Swiss Hostal Martinik

Recommended. Great location. Not a bad stay for one night.

Location is perfect and safe in terms of walking to the museums, restaurants, Transmilenio station etc. The dorm was right by a very loud street so if you are jetlagged or sick and need to sleep during the day, forget about it. They give you a towel and there is hot water in the shower. There is complimentary coffee and tea during the day. Breakfast is basic and I did not end up eating any, but it looked ok (toast and jam, and muesli, coffee and tea). There is a TV room. The computers available for use were very slow though. Lockers are provided but are not in the dorm, but by reception. I stayed only one night and it was pretty good. There is a lot of choice for hostels in La Candelaria, and I would recommend this one.

It was really loud but it gets quiet around 11pm. The entire place seemed a bit dark. The light bulbs could do with more strength.

Good for party youngsters

Nicely in the city centre, friendly staff, free WiFi, little breakfast.

Noisy all night long: paper walls make you hear all bathroom noises, people rumbling, etc. Since the guests were mainly of the party type ... The ladies at the reception were very helpful, but I wonder what the guys were actually doing apart from hanging in a chair.

Comfortable and cosy place in the heart of old town. Easy access to city center and museums. Good breakfast to start for the day.

Noise of heavy traffic is hard in front rooms for sleeping. Payment method of credit card is not disclosed for extra fee/charges.

If you're looking for a quite and clean hostel, that's the place.

Very clean, breakfast included, quiet areas to chill, computers for guests. Helpful staff.

Bed mattress covered with nylon which makes it uncomfortable and noisy. Dorms windows faceing the street.

Nice hostel

Super friendly staff and owner, they try to help you with everything! Perfect location in the middle of the sweet La Candelaria. They have computers which you can use, nice common area and breakfast is included (toast, butter and jam as well as granola and milk all you can eat!) And it’s not too expensive!

Could be a bit noisy during the night because some of the dorms are located next to the street, and in the morning because the rooms are located directly at the breakfast area. But that’s not a big deal :-)

Great place in very central location

Really cool place! The owner is one of a kind and great fun to have around (you might first think she's just staying there, but nope, it's her hostel!). The staff is super friendly, speaks good english and is very helpful. The common areas are really nice as well, good for getting to know other travellers, you have a guitar for some music, TV, comfy couches and a nice, well equipped kitchen. The breakfast is simple but good (toast, jam, cereals, coffee). The location is very central in La Candelaria and you're close to everything there and just a few steps away from the Museo Botero. The downside is that the dorms are facing the street, so it gets a bit noisy when all sorts of honking vehicles pass by (but kind of normal in La Candelaria). There are lockers in every room and at the reception and security is pretty good here. All in all a very good place to stay in Bogota in a very central location! Ps: Don't let the dog scare you, Bobby is a nice one but likes barking :)

Very big hostel, comfortable, lots of showers

even thought is is in the centre of the historic centre, at night it is very dangerous. Everyone recommended staying in the hostel after 6pm

Staff was awesome, very helpful, always smiling, recognizing...

Staff was awesome, very helpful, always smiling, recognizing you on the streets. The breakfast was simple but abundant. Great public areas to talk with other tourists and to keep the rooms for sleeping and relaxing.

Bad wifi was the only thing disappointing for me, but it might as well be fixed by now.

What was the highlight of Swiss Hostal Martinik

3 night stay in Bogota

The Staff were friendly and the common area where the couches and the fireplace were, was nice to chill in and chat to people. The breakfast was basic, but enough. The Staff were good to advise on where to go and what to do and about being safe in the area. They also have laundry facilities at a small cost, clean bathroom and full kitchen facilities. The beds have extra warm blankets too as it can get cold at night in Bogota. The hostel is in a good area in La Candelaria (the free museum is super close), as well as a supermarket and a pizza place :)

The doorbell goes at all hours for people wanting to come in, which is good for security, however is very loud and can be heard upstairs even when the doors are closed. I asked the night before my early departure about whether I needed to pre-book my bus for Cali or the taxi in the morning as I wanted to get the first bus at 6am and was told i can just sort both in the morning. Unfortunately the night receptionist had trouble calling a cab at 5:20am and the bus I wanted was sold out (not the hostel's fault, but it would have been better to have pre-booked).
